Why did we create Pocket Punchlist?

Our Story

Mar 24, 2025

When we bought our first home, we thought we were prepared. We’d done the open houses, researched the neighborhood, and even landed a brand-new apartment in a gut-renovated building. But once we were deep in the process, we realized something that changed everything: we had no one truly on our side.

There were so many vendors involved—agents, lawyers, sellers, even the builder—but none of them felt like they were looking out for us. Our real estate agent wanted the deal to close. The seller’s agent wanted the deal to close. And when we brought up concerns, we were told things like, “That’s just how it goes,” or “That’s normal in this market.”

We ended up waiving the inspection to stay competitive—something that, at the time, felt like a smart compromise. The property was new, after all. What could go wrong?

Turns out… a lot.

Some of the things we stressed over were totally minor. But other things—things we missed entirely—became serious (and expensive) issues down the line. We found ourselves learning on the fly, wishing we had someone, anyone, who could help us understand what we were really walking into before we signed on the dotted line.

That’s why we created Pocket Punchlist.

A Homebuying Tool Built by Homebuyers

Pocket Punchlist was born out of frustration—and a desire to make the homebuying process less mysterious for people like us. We’re not contractors. We’re not engineers. We’re just two regular homebuyers who felt blindsided by the process and wanted to build a tool that could’ve helped us then—and now helps you.

With Pocket Punchlist, you don’t have to guess what’s worth worrying about in your future home. You simply upload photos from your walkthroughs, and our AI analyzes them to highlight potential red flags. Whether it’s water damage, cracked tiles, or signs of structural issues, we help you spot things you might not know to look for.

But more importantly, we tell you what to do next. We guide you on what to ask the seller, what to clarify with your agent, and when to bring in a professional. Because buying a home shouldn’t feel like you’re being left in the dark.

You Deserve to Know What You're Buying

Waived inspections. Rushed decisions. Pressure to compete. Today’s homebuying market isn’t always friendly to first-time buyers. But knowledge is power—and Pocket Punchlist gives you that power, right in your pocket.

We built this platform to be the partner we wish we’d had. Not another vendor. Not someone pushing you toward a sale. Just a tool you can trust to help you make smarter, more confident decisions about your future home.

Because no one should have to go into homeownership blind.
